1. Facebook to review App developers

Facebook reminds app developers that the deadline for app reviews is less than a month away which is August 1. App developers wanting to keep access to a number of APIs will need to submit their apps for review. Developers wanting to retain their access to any of the following APIs for existing apps will need to submit their apps for review and “re-request” permission to use the APIs:

Facebook Login outside of email and default (any apps or websites that allow users to sign in using their Facebook account) like Pages API, Groups API, Events API, Messenger API, Instagram API, Business Manager API.

2. Google Page Speed Update for Mobile

In January 2018 Google said that it will consider page speed as a ranking factor for mobile. The search giant has officially announced that ‘Speed Update’ for mobile search is now rolling out worldwide. The update is now available to all users.

3. ‘Keyword snooze’ – Facebook’s new feature to hides phrases from your News Feed

Facebook announced recently that it is testing a ‘Keyword Snooze’ button. This button will allow users to hide TV spoilers, political discussions, or other unsatisfying posts from their News Feeds, more effectively from posts from a person, Page, or Group that contains those keywords for the next 30 days.

4. Instagram testing open-ended questions in Stories to make content more interactive

Instagram’s attempt to make content more interactive -it is testing a feature that allows users to add open-ended questions within Stories. Currently, the app lets users post polls with multiple-choice answers, option to direct message someone in response to a Story. By allowing open-ended questions within a Story, Instagram is aiming to create more engagement between users and is opening the door for brands and influencers to enable more public conversations with their followers.

5. Facebook updates Ad transparency

Facebook announced recently that it will let users see all the active ads a Facebook page is running across its multiple platforms be it Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or its partner network. Even if the ad isn’t being specifically targeted at that person, they will be able to see it. This feature was initially tested in Canada.

6. Instagram implements Group video chat, Redesigns Explore tab and New camera effects

Facebook-owned Instagram has started to roll out features which were announced back at Facebook F8 Developers Conference. Users will now be able to Video chat in a group, maximum 4 people. ‘Topic channels’ in the new redesigned explore tab allows users to discover content more easily. Instagram also rolled out new and fun camera effects. Third party apps can avail this feature to make more cool effects.
